Tetra-n-butylammonium Iodide is used in the preparation of novel quaternary amines to serve as antibacterial agents in the rise of drug-resistant bacteria. Also used in phosphonium reversible inhibitors of cholinesterases. This product is a good cationic phase transfer catalyst.
